Hi there, did you miss me? Ah, well…..didn’t think so, but one can hope. :) I was just informed that if I didn’t post something soon, the family sight would be going by the wayside. So….Here I am, posting. It’s been awhile since I’ve done this, bear with me.
For over 15 years I worked for a local family owned auto dealership,a franchise subsidiary of Daimler Chrysler. The majority of the employees had been there as long if not longer than I was. We were like a family.
Just recently the dealership was bought by Ken Garff Automotive Group out of Salt Lake City, Utah.We were told that the dealership would be closing, and the franchise would be absorbed into another dealership in town, also owned by Garff. We were given only five days notice(we were told the day after Christmas). We received no type of severance, only what was left of our vacation pay. Needless to say many of us were quite angry and hurt, our family was breaking up.
Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! Happy Hanukkah! Good Kwanzaa! Did I forget anyone?…..Whatever your beliefs and traditions, I hope everyone has a good holiday spent with family and friends. To me that’s what holidays are about anyway. Just another reason to get together with everyone and get a little festive(aka drunk). Be safe. Be merry. Happy Yule!

It’s that time of year again. Time for all the ghosts and goblins, spooks and spectres to come out. That’s right it’s Halloween! And of course we’re all getting together to send our kids out trick-or-treating. This year Chris, Sophie and I want everyone to come to our house(home base) for chili and marguritas. Fun WILL be had by all….it’s required!lol!Costumes are optional.
If spring has sprung then fall has fallen. Dig out those sweatshirts and jackets! It’s getting chilly out there! I know it’s offically fall because my tree is changing to bright red. Also the cats are huddled by the door in the mornings wanting to be let in. You’d think with all that fur they wouldn’t mind the cold so much…lol. Actually, I’ve been looking forward to getting out all my big, bulky, hide your gut sweaters. I’ve missed scarves and mittens…NOT! I’d rather it be 75 degrees year round, but I live in Iowa, and am not willing to move, so I have to deal with it. Look on the bright side, it’s only six more months until spring. :p

I’ve had it with the rat race. I’m tired of scrambling to make a buck, tired of working for The Man. America is the unending hamster wheel to oblivion, where apparently you win if you die while in possession of a plasma TV, the fattest mortgage or the bitchinest Beemer ever.
There has got to be a place left in the world where a man can be reflective rather than reactive, where mellow is the coin of the realm. Like Blake, I’d like to kiss a little of the joy as it flies before shuffling off this mortal coil. And I don’t want to have to be laden like a Spanish galleon to do it.
Honestly, I’m not sure what happened, but it must have been fun!
We spent all day saturday smoking pork roasts and ribs at Thomas Mitchell Park. And I must say they turned out good. In no small part due to Kelly and Dad.
Dad was kind enough to bring some of his cinnamon hooch to while the time away and give us a nice change from all the beer.
but….
WAS IT EVER HOT!
I am surprised no one suffered heat stroke on the long, shadeless, walk to the restrooms. Such is the price you pay for not camping in the “primitive” camping area.
The Summer of Chris successfully launched over the Memorial Day Weekend.
Minus the odd thunderstorm or two, the lake weekend went off without a hitch. That being said, it’s probably time to list the accomplishments!
60 Bucks in cheap american beer, down.
Numerous bloody mary’s down, though the bottle of vodka remains for round 2.
Brats, iowa chops, a roast, and some other stuff, down.
We ate, drank and did nothing without remorse.
So much of nothing, as a matter of fact, that the furthest I was able to get from the camper was a fishing trip out in the paddle boat with Sophie.
Today, at about 3:35am, Robert Fox passed away.
My condolences go to Florence and the rest of the Fox family. I couldn’t possibly do any sort of eulogy justice, so I would just like to share some memories I have of the Fox family.
Bustin’ My Chops: In first grade I was pulling some boneheaded maneuver and ended up falling face first in the cement driveway. I ran screaming into my parents house to call my Mom, she sent me to the Fox’s for first aid. They took care of me for the day until my Mom got home from work. I don’t know of anything that could be worse for a house than a kid with knocked in teeth, screaming for all he’s worth.
