Live the Dream

I have a new, modern day, hero.

Before I divulge who it is, I will explain why.
Please note that there may be some harsh language further down, so if this offends you please take a hike and don’t click the read more link.

The person to which this commentary refers to is, what I consider, a well respected professional. I say this as a *current* client but let me explain.

I felt the need to stress the term “current” in the above statement because the situation stands that he has more “former” clients than “current” ones.

What we have is an extremely educated individual and though I do not agree with his political motivations, we’ve been close friends for 30 some odd years. It’s a good thing that both our wives are forgiving (or we’d both be single again). An individual who finally said “I’ve had enough” and quit his job. Then. There. Done. Left his equipment and took his family photos.

I did not ask the specifics but I can relate what my motivations would have been. It’s these assumptions on which I base my opinion.

Fed up with people not listening, covering for the shortcomings of others and dealing with others’ problem that they should take care of themselves.

Those of us that are competent in our professions and secure enough to deal with our own personal problems are sick and tired of lugging your personal fucking baggage around. Get off our backs so we can continue to make a difference.

If you read that statement and take offence, YOU ARE EXACTLY WHO I AM TALKING ABOUT.

Right now, I’m fairly lucky. Decent job and I get on well with most of my co-workers. Not so long ago, when I worked for IBM, this was not the case and I can identify with the urge to cut the cord.

KTB, you got balls of solid rock.
Live the dream, pursue what makes you happy.
