Boy, did I let this lapse…
Anyway, I was laid off from ING last November due to an outsourcing initiative. At least it wasn’t an offshoring one. Anyway, I wasn’t picked up by the incoming firm initially (wrong list or some such), but an IBM manager called late in the evening on December 18, 2003. I accepted the positiion the next day, and officially started working for IBM on the 31st.
So, I was really never without a job, just out looking for a replacement. Had the thing come to it’s final conclusion, my last day would have been January 15th of this year.
As it is, it seems to be a move for the better though they keep me twice as busy as ING ever did.
We’ll see where it ends up.

I was laidoff at IBM May 31, 2007.
Came back from the lake after a long weekend to a message from a manager I never heard of.
On the positive side, I was out of work for about 6 weeks in the MIDDLE OF SUMMER. The severance package carried me through, the recruiters did the job hunting for me, so it was a vacation for the most part.
